The Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX) was created in the last quarter of 2005 in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The goal of the DIFX is to become the gateway stock exchange between Europe and Asia trading with standards comparable to the New York Stock Exchange, the London Stock Exchange, or the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The exchange currently lists shares, bonds, Sukuk- the Arabic equivalent of a bond, and structured product-like securities. Currently, the DIFX is the largest market maker of Sukuk in the world. Van Eck Global has recently launched an ETF that gives foreign investors exposure to Dubai, the UAE, and other Gulf States. Their Market Vectors Gulf States Index ETF is based on the Dow Jones GCC Titans 40 IndexSM. |
